It’s Cold Out

cold but loved in college

It seems to me that the winter is a time to either get close to someone or to realize how alone you really are. To curl into someone on those cold Los Angeles nights when the temperatures sulk down to the low 50′s, or to curl into yourself, in the fetal position watching Sixteen Candles on On Demand (Cinemax really knows what a single girl wants to watch this time of year). I stare longingly at couples as they snuggle on that little lit-up bridge at the Grove as fake snow drifts gracefully to the ground. And then I remind myself that I can order a ton of stuff off of Amazon with the money I would have spent on my non-existent boyfriend, the Grove is overcrowded and overhyped, and the fake snow is probably toxic.

And regardless of whether or not I’m wrapping Christmas presents for a lover or just loved ones around this time of year, I always find myself craving the type of music that would hum in tune with a crackling fireplace (not that I’ve actually ever been in possession of a crackling fireplace – but a girl can dream, for a working man and a working chimney, now can’t she?). Even in a place where the palm trees never die and going to the beach is always an option, I crave music that makes me warm inside, no matter what my relationship status. So here you go, your winter playlist: “It’s Cold Out.” With something for everyone, from the lovers to the lovelorn.

(As always, you can listen to this playlist if you’re my friend on facebook and as much of a lover of Spotify as I am!!)
